Church as a Place of Beauty and Edification

“And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.”

WHAT DOES THIS PROJECT INCLUDE?

This project would include purchase and installation of:

  1. Iconostasis
  2. Icons for the Iconostasis
  3. Bosom of the Father
  4. Two reliquaries for Saints’ relics
  5. New benches
  6. Chorus stands (mangaleya)

REASON FOR THIS PROJECT:

Separation of the Altar:

The altar is regarded as the “throne of God,” where Christ’s body and blood are consecrated during the Divine Liturgy.

Heaven and Earth:

Representing the boundary between heaven and earth with the icons representing the true meaning of living heaven on earth through the Saints’ lives.

Beauty of the Church:

Adding to the visual splendor of the church building, which is meant to elevate the heavenly prayers and worship.

Enhancing the Church’s Identity & Evangelistic Purpose:

Iconostasis and other liturgical/church items are key in establishing a distinctive identity for the church. For many visitors, the sight of a beautiful, well-crafted iconostasis and other sacred items might inspire curiosity and reverence, helping them understand and appreciate the richness of the Orthodox faith.
